The credit crunch is taking a dramatic toll on the nation's health! Poor Diet and Fitness have serious long-term health implications. Almost 29 million people - nearly two thirds of the nation - feel more stressed, less fit and healthy, and are more prone to illness than they were 3 years ago. And according to the Britain Under Pressure report, credit crunch concerns mean more than one in three people are worrying more, one in five are sleeping less and 15% are working longer hours.

 

Diet and exercise are losing out to the credit crunch, with more than 55% of the UK buying cheaper food as a cost cutting measure, 15% have cut spending on fresh fruit and vegetables, and almost 20% of adults having cut back on gym use this year, many specifically because of the economic situation. The dual effect on lifestyles of the credit crunch and lack of concern over long term health is in danger of creating a blood pressure ‘ticking time bomb', warns the Blood Pressure Association.

 

Looking after your Health is far important than your Wealth! How can the busy person provide for their families if he/she is dead?

 

This is what I say to many of my wealthiest clients or those who priortise their lives around their earnings and fancy possessions. We live in a society where your governed by where you live, where you shop and what you can afford to drive. It amuses me when I see busy professionals killing themselves to have the dream lifestyle however what is your health financially worth to you? Can you truly put a price tag on it?   I’ve learned from the most successful people I know that money doesn’t completely make you happier, it gives you choices. Everyone on this planet has choices, so why not look after your health as it will clearly improve your wealth! It’s not too difficult to work out the sums

 

(Exercise + Good Diet + Rest + Sleep = Positive Output + Results) = more money in the bank!

 

However

 

(Poor Diet + No Exercise + Tiredness = Depression/Anxiety + Poor Results) = Early Grave!

Here are some Scary facts!
Many people are reliant on take-aways and ready meals with more than three quarters (75%) of adults regularly buying ready meals and/or ordering takeaways.  (Cook for yourself! It’s cheaper and healthier!)  7% of the nation would admit they have already started drinking more alcohol than before the crunch, and 9% anticipate consuming more alcohol during the next six months

6% admit they have started smoking more because of economic worries

42% never, or hardly ever, monitor the salt content of their food

50% of UK adults admit they do absolutely nothing to keep blood pressure at healthy levels.

1/3 of adults never or rarely eats the recommended amount of fruit or vegetables. Consuming too many ready meals and convenience foods, which are high in salt and fat, not taking enough exercise and drinking too much alcohol all have a major effect on blood pressure.

Around 16 million adults in the UK have high blood pressure which, uncontrolled and undetected, leads to the nation's biggest killers; strokes, heart attacks and heart failure. This is preventable, but only if people start taking the right action now.
